Transport Pride: a look at Pride liveries across Ireland

To celebrate Pride month, we thought we'd take a look at the various transport companies across the island of Ireland who have decorated vehicles in Pride livery over the past decade or so. Special thanks to Martin Hoey for his assistance in putting this article together.

Dublin Bus Pride vehicles

Since 2017, a number of Dublin Bus vehicles have carried a Pride wrap. This started with a Donnybrook-based bus, AX523. Phibsborough-based tour bus AV441 would follow in 2019, along with no less than three EV-type vehicles, EV64, EV97 and EV98. After a pause for a few years, 2024 would see GT21 wrapped in a special vinyl to commemorate 50 years of Dublin Pride.. Another EV, Clontarf’s EV23, became the 2025 Pride bus. At the time of writing (2026), Conyngham Road-based SG450 had just become the latest Dublin Bus vehicle to carry a Pride wrap.

Translink Metro Pride Vehicles

A number of Translink buses have had Pride vinyls applied over the years. Notable examples include Wright StreetDeck HEV demonstrator 5000, which incidentally was the fleet’s first hybrid vehicle. Several more StreetDeck buses have subsequently carried Pride vinyls,

The Go Ahead Pride bus

In 2021, Go Ahead Ireland, in conjunction with Transport for Ireland, wrapped a Volvo B5TL double-decker, No.11589, in a special wrap for Pride. With the Pride parade unable to take place in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this enabled the company to continue to play a role in enabling the festival to continue to have some presence on Dublin’s streets. This vehicle continues to wear the special livery to this day.

Bus Éireann Pride buses

Bus Éireann introduced their first Pride-liveried vehicle in 2019, with Cork-based VWD43 finished in a wrap for the city’s Pride festival. Since then, the Bus Éireann Pride bus has visited many other parts of Ireland too.

The Pride DART

2022 would see the first Pride-liveried rail vehicle in Ireland. Original Linke Hoffman Busch 8100 Class DART EMU set, Nos.8115+8315, was unveiled in a special Pride wrap at Grand Canal Dock station in a ceremony hosted by Iarnród Éireann and the NTA. This was the first 8100 Class unit to carry a full vinyl wrap since 8120+8320 and 8125+8335 carried an advertising livery for Eircell in the early 2000s.

Set 8115+8315 carried the Pride wrap for two years before getting a new wrap to celebrate 40 years of the DART in 2024.

As you have read, quite a few vehicles have carried a Pride livery over the past few years. The above list was compiled as of June 2026, no doubt more will be added in the future.
