About the event
March 2026 marks 65 years since the West Cork railway system closed forever. To mark the occasion, we've organised a special bus tour on 28th March. This will take in some of the key areas which this once expansive railway system served. Learn about the history of the West Cork Railway as renowned Irish railway historian and author Jonathan Beaumont throughout, stopping at some key locations along the route for photos. Fare includes a visit to the West Cork Model Railway Village in Clonakility. Here, guests can marvel at the former railway system recreated in minature, while having the opportunity to have tea in a restored 1950s CIÉ Park Royal carriage.
Places for this outing are strictly limited, advance booking advised.
We regret that, as we received no state funding towards our bus hire, we cannot accept travel passes on this trip.
