About the event

March 2026 marks 65 years since the West Cork railway system closed forever. To mark the occasion, we've organised a special bus tour on 28th March. This will take in some of the key areas which this once expansive railway system served. Learn about the history of the West Cork Railway as renowned Irish railway historians Ray Good and Jonathan Beaumont throughout, stopping at some key locations along the route for photos.


Dept Cork Kent Station at 10:00.

  • Photostop near Chetwynd Viaduct (weather permitting).

  • Visit to the sites of stations at Bandon, Ballinascarthy, Ballineen, Skibbereen, Drimoleague, Baltimore, and a few more subject to timely running.

  • Visit to the West Cork Model Railway village in Clonakilty.

  • Extended break for lunch at Skibbereen.
